The use of Rose water in every Indian household dates back to centuries. It has been a staple beauty product in every home. But you need to make sure that when you buy Rose water, it should be 100% pure and not the lab made rose water. Rose water is the bye-product of production of Rose Essential Oil.

The usage of rosewater dates back to early Egypt, when Cleopatra (yes, Cleopatra) used the natural product in her skincare regime. And how can we not follow the footsteps of the world's most legendary beauty queen, isn't it?

Let's see how rose water is beneficial for both hair and skin:

Rosewater helps maintain the skin's pH balance, and also controls excess oil.

Rose water has anti-inflammatory properties

It can help reduce redness of skin, get rid of acne, dermatitis and eczema. It is a great cleanser and aids in removing oil and dirt accumulated in clogged pores.

Rose water helps hydrate, revitalise and moisturise the skin giving it with that refreshed look.

Due to its antibacterial properties, rose water also aids in healing scars, cuts and wounds.

Rose water has antioxidant properties

It helps strengthen skin cells and rejuvenate skin tissues.

Rose water is an astringent

Rose water helps clear clogged pores and helps to tone the skin. Applying rose water after steaming tightens capillaries, reduces redness and blotchiness.

Rose water helps in keeping away fine lines and eventually wrinkles

What exactly are hydrosols and how are they different from plant concoctions made at home?

Hydrosol/steam distilled water is very concentrated because it takes at an average 2.4 kilo grams of the plant to produce 1 litre of steam distilled water. The process does not use water to make hydrosol, it rather uses steam to make the hydrosol. So, hydrosol has all the ingredients that the plant is supposed to have. And the concoction made at home is not that powerful as the plant parts are boiled in the water and there is no set/defined proportion of plant to water ratio to give the desired benefits. Also, during the boiling process many of the nutrients are evaporated while in steam distillation process there is no chance of evaporation of the nutrients.

Ask a Question
  • Why is the 200ml and 500ml variety in plastic bottle?

Though we always promote the fact that all good quality hydrosols or floral waters should be stored in glass, it becomes a little difficult being a direct to consumer, internet first brand to give bigger bottles in glass, due to the risk of breakage. What we can suggest is, if possible, buy the save some Tattvalogy rose water 100ml bottles, and then buy the bigger 500ml bottle, and as soon as you receive your product, transfer the contents into these 100ml bottles.

  • Where do you source your Rose petals for the rose water?

We source our roses from Kannauj (Rose Capital of India) and Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, India, for most of our demand (which is around 98%). For the remaining demand, we source from Pushkar in Rajasthan, India.
