Coconut Pitta Cooling Abhyanga Body Oil

For summer, hot climates, or pitta-fiery constitutions. The cooling counterpart to sesame oil - soothes inflammation and overheating.

What You'll Need

Step-by-Step

  1. In a steel pan, gently warm 200ml Coconut Oil (to liquid) + 100ml Sweet Almond Oil on LOWEST heat (~60C).
  2. Add 2 tbsp Sandalwood + 1 tbsp Rose Petal Powder; stir 2 min.
  3. Infuse on lowest heat 15-20 min, stirring every 3 min (tints golden-pink).
  4. Remove; cover; cool ~2 hrs.
  5. Strain through muslin into 300ml amber bottle; squeeze.
  6. Add 5 drops Vitamin E Oil; swirl.
  7. Use: same abhyanga ritual as #88; apply before shower, long strokes, extra time on feet; absorb 10-15 min.
  8. Frequency: Daily in summer/heat or for pitta types; weekly otherwise.
  9. Storage: Cool/dark; solidifies below 24C (warm bottle in hot water); 4-6 months.

Pro Tips

For pitta flare-ups (heat rash, body acne, sunburned skin) this is the calming oil. Refrigerate briefly before applying in extreme heat.
