What You'll Need

Step-by-Step

  1. In a medium glass bowl, combine 1/2 cup finely ground coffee (use freshly ground or used grounds — fine grind is essential) and 1/2 cup raw brown sugar. Mix to combine.
  2. Warm 1/4 cup Extra Virgin Coconut Oil and 2 tbsp Shea Butter in a double boiler until just liquid.
  3. Add the warm liquid mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir until everything is fully coated and uniformly mixed.
  4. Stir in 1 tsp Vegetable Glycerin for extra moisture-locking.
  5. Spoon into a clean glass jar (about 350-400ml capacity).
  6. To use: In the shower, after wetting your body, scoop about 1 tablespoon onto damp (not wet) skin. Scrub in firm circular motions over thighs, hips, glutes, and any areas of cellulite or rough skin. Coffee's caffeine increases circulation and temporarily smooths skin appearance.
  7. Let the scrub sit on the skin for 2 minutes to allow active compounds to absorb.
  8. Rinse off thoroughly with warm water. Pat dry — don't rub. Skin will feel smooth, slightly oily (the residual oils moisturize), and tingly from the caffeine.
  9. Frequency: 2-3 times a week. The exfoliation needs time to recover.
  10. Storage: Glass jar, cool dry place. Shelf life: 4-6 weeks. Discard if it smells off — coffee oils oxidize over time.

Pro Tips

Use fresh (not used) grounds for best results. Drain slippery residue — careful in shower. Use 2-3x per week for 4+ weeks for firming effect.
