What You'll Need

Step-by-Step

  1. Set up a double boiler. Add 1 tbsp Beeswax Pellets to the heatproof bowl first — Beeswax has the highest melting point and goes in first.
  2. Once the Beeswax is fully liquid (about 2-3 minutes), add 1 tbsp Shea Butter and 1 tbsp Virgin Coconut Oil. Stir gently until melted and uniform — about 2 more minutes.
  3. Remove the bowl from heat. Quickly stir in 1/2 tsp Beetroot Powder until the colour is fully dispersed (no clumps). The mixture will be a deep berry-pink.
  4. Add 2 drops Vitamin-E Oil (heat-sensitive — last to add). Stir to combine.
  5. Working quickly before it sets, pour the warm mixture into clean lip balm tubes or 5g tins. A small funnel or a spoon with a steady hand works.
  6. Tap the containers gently on the counter to release air bubbles.
  7. Let set at room temperature for 15-20 minutes — do NOT refrigerate while setting (creates uneven shrinkage).
  8. To use: Apply to clean lips like any lip balm. The Beetroot Powder gives a natural berry tint that builds with multiple swipes.
  9. Frequency: Use as often as desired throughout the day. Bonus: dab onto cheekbones for a flush.
  10. Storage: Cool dry place. Shelf life: 6 months. If it melts in summer heat, refrigerate briefly to firm up.

Pro Tips

For deeper tint, add more beetroot 1/8 tsp at a time. Don't skip beeswax — it's what solidifies. Shelf life 12 months.
