What You'll Need

Step-by-Step

  1. If your 3 tbsp Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is solid (typical in winter), warm gently in a double boiler or by placing the jar in warm water until just liquid.
  2. In a glass bowl, mix the warmed Coconut Oil with 2 tbsp Aloe Vera Gel, 1 tbsp Jojoba Oil, and 2 tbsp raw honey. Whisk until emulsified into a creamy mixture.
  3. Apply to damp (not soaking wet) hair — start at mid-lengths and work down to ends. Avoid heavy application at the roots (it weighs hair down).
  4. Comb through with a wide-tooth wooden comb to distribute evenly.
  5. Pile hair on top of head and cover with a shower cap. Wrap a warm towel over for extra heat — heat helps the oils penetrate the hair shaft.
  6. Leave 30-45 minutes (or sleep in it overnight on a satin pillowcase).
  7. Shampoo out thoroughly with a sulfate-free shampoo. May need 2 washes to fully remove.
  8. Skip conditioner — the mask has already deeply conditioned. Air dry for the best texture.
  9. Frequency: Once a week for very dry/damaged hair. Once every 2 weeks for normal hair.
  10. Storage: Use immediately.

Pro Tips

For deep frizz: warm the oil mixture slightly before applying. Use once a week for damaged hair, once a month for maintenance.
