What You'll Need

Step-by-Step

  1. Mash 1 ripe banana in a bowl until completely smooth — there should be NO lumps or chunks (these will get stuck in your hair and are very hard to rinse out). For best results, blend in a food processor or use the back of a fork patiently for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Warm 2 tbsp Virgin Coconut Oil until just liquid. Whisk into the mashed banana.
  3. Add 1 tbsp Aloe Vera Gel, 1 tbsp Jojoba Oil, and 1 tbsp raw honey. Whisk until you have a smooth, mousse-like consistency.
  4. Apply throughout damp hair from roots to tips. Comb through with a wide-tooth wooden comb to distribute evenly.
  5. Cover with a shower cap. Leave on for 30 minutes.
  6. Rinse with COOL water first (warm water can cook the banana onto your hair). Then shampoo with a sulfate-free shampoo. May need 2 washes.
  7. Air dry for the softest result.
  8. Frequency: Once a week for severely damaged hair. Once every 2 weeks for general repair.
  9. Storage: Use immediately. Banana darkens and oxidizes quickly.

Pro Tips

Blend the banana in a blender for no chunks. Nothing worse than banana bits stuck in hair.
